Urban Neurosis and Social Stress A view from Santiago

To understand why I chose this topic is necessary, for you, to know that I’m from a peaceful city named San Carlos, a city located in the region of Bio Bio, soon region of Ñuble. Well, San Carlos is a city without a lot of noise, lights or big buildings. When it’s gets dark the people go home and the streets are almost empty, the little noise that there was in the afternoon disappears, it’s like a ghost town. When I arrived in Santiago I knew the chaos that I had heard: the noise, the lights, the people everywhere, pollution, etc, a picture completely different to my city. Santiago is, with all these things, a source of mental wear for a several reasons The public transport is not sufficient for all the people that live in Santiago, for this reason, in the peak times, overcrowding occurs, producing a few troubles to the people and between the people. The noise of the city, building trades, cars, uproar and the lights produce confusion, headache, the people can’t, even, con...

A movie that I like and a movie that I hate

I have a lot of favorite movies but the movie in wich I think the most in the last time is "the Akira Kurosawa's Dreams". A movie from the director Akira Kurosawa. In this movie Kurosawa shows us 8 of his dreams. The dream that most impacted to me is the first: a kid enters the forest and watch a dance of wolfs, the wolfs look at him and the kid run. The worst movie ever is any of nicolás lopez, the plot of the movies are basic and always use stereotypes: the woman who it goes crazy, the absolute lover, etc.

"Laguna de la Plata"

This picture was taken in "Laguna de la plata" (lagoon of silver), this place is located closely to San Fabián of Alico (Bio bio region). To get to this place we wad to walk about 5 hours between a mountain... it was tiring. When we finally arrived we started to prepare the camping things: the tent, the food, etc. To this place I went with my best friends (who my dad call "the manada" because almost everyone have a funny nickname: "el mula", "el frodo", "el larry", "el pencil", "el pájaro", etc). We stayed about 5 days and some of these days there was full moon so that nights were beautiful. In this picture appears (from left to right) "el mula", me, "el frodo", "el pájaro" and "el tata". Frodo and me are playing "damas" after swing in the lagoon.

My favorite piece of technology is my new/old mp4. Inspecting my house, yesterday, I found an old mp4 "Phillips" with 2 gigabits of capacity. I found it in a good moment, just in the moment when I need it. Before that I have to listen my music in the phone, but its battery is depleted quickly. Is a good thing but have low capacity because with 2 gigabits I can have a few of albums. I would like a mp4 with 16 gigabits at least. Well, at least I can change the music always I think is necessary. I remember that this mp4 was a gift of my friend Felipe Cortez ("El zorro"), in a first moment I do not look with interest this thing, but I love that now.

Cantata de Puentes amarillos

My favorite song is called "Cantata de Puentes amarillos", it was published in 1973 inside the album called "Artaud", in honor to the french and surrealist poet and playwright Antonin Artaud who, despite spending many sorrows, wrote many works about the beauty and suffering like "El momo" and his essays about Van Gogh and Heliogabalus. Well, the first time that I heard this song, in 2012 approximately, I got goosegumbs. I love to much this song because with her I opened the world of Spinetta. Before I had heard "muchacha ojos de papel" but it didn't touch me. With "Cantata" I feel that the voice of Spinetta could broke anything, even the harder soul.  I liked so much that the song change, at least, five times, and the passion that transcend this. My favorite part is when say: "Guarda el hilo nena Guarden bien tus manos Esta libertad Ya no poses nena Todo eso es en vano Como no dormir" all that is in vain as not s...

When I was a kid I had a lot of ideas about my future: When I was 8 years old I wanted to be police officer, when I was 11 I wanted to be a priest (yes, I was very religious), when I was 13 I wanted to be a poet but this dream it destroyed because my brother was laughing at me; when I went into adolescence I didn't want anything. In the end of high school I chose psychology because it was a career related to humanistic area (In this moment I read a lot and I am interested in the human mind), I was not interested in other career really. Short history: I took the PSU and I obtained the score to apply to Psychology at University of Chile. And here I am. My experience at University has been good because I learned so much ( I learn more with my friends than  in the lectures). The kind of job I would like to have is mmm... I don't know,  I'm not very fussy and I'm not clear about the area of psychology that I would choose.
I talked to Alexis, a classmate who is sitting next to me: Me: Where and When were you born? A: I was born in 98' in Peñalolen, Santiago Me: Where do you live? A: I live in Peñalolen Me: What do you study? A: I study Sociology in University of Chile Me: Do you like this? A: No so much Me: Why? A: I don't know at all Me: What things do you like do? A: I like to eat and take care of my pets Me: How do you see yourself in the future? A: Oh! that is a typical question that I don't know how to answer. Me: If you can choose another thing to do instead of study Sociology, What would you do? A: Nothing, I just would like to be sleeping forever. Me: Like in the Matrix, hahahaha. What is your favorite movie? A: My favorite movie is "Law Abiding Citizen". Me: That's a great movie. Well, I see you soon. A: Bye, nice to meet you.
